HIKING AT PLYMOUTH BLUFF | MS

Location: 2200 Old West Point Road Columbus, MS 39701   |   April 1, 2017

For a while, I have been searching for secluded nature trails, where I would feel safe hiking alone. Every day on my way to work, I would pass a sign for Plymouth Bluff Environmental Center. One weekend Buck and I decided to check it out and it did not disappoint. The trails are about 20 minutes outside of town and follow the old Tombigbee River Channel.

BEANS & CREAM | MS

Location: 60 Brickerton St, Columbus, MS 39701   |   March 30, 2017

It’s important to find a cozy, local coffee shop no matter where you live. I don’t know about you, but coffee shops make me think of home, even if they look nothing like the one from my hometown. I think it has something to do with the atmosphere, which allows me to take a break from my busy life and recenter.

SMITH LAKE | AL

Location: Smith Lake Alabama   |   February 10, 2017

In Michigan, I grew up surrounded by clear lakes. During the summer, you would always find our family and friends out on the water. Being on the lake holds so many memories and will forever be my happy place.

So naturally when I moved down to Mississippi, I was excited to scope out some new lakes. What I found was brown, muddy rivers, where you could barely see your hand under the water. To top it off, locals told me that the river I was swimming in all last summer were filled with alligators, human-sized catfish and water moccasins. I couldn’t tell if these were hard facts, or they were just “teasing the Yankee.” Shoot, and to think I use to be afraid of little sunfish biting my toes in Michigan. It was safe to say the quest to find a clear lake was on.

SCHUSS MOUNTAIN SKI TRIP | MI

Location: 5780 Shanty Creek Road, Bellaire, MI 49615    |   December 29, 2016

There is nothing quite like experiencing snow for the holidays. I didn’t realize how much I would miss it, until we moved to Mississippi. Although I love our new home, and 70 degrees is nice in December, I am a proud Michigander. Growing up I was always involved in snowboarding, pond hockey, snowmobiling and bonfires with friends and family. These activities shared with loved ones, is exactly what makes winters in Michigan so special. With that being said, our Christmas and New Years plans took us north.

LAKE LURLEEN | AL

Location: 13226 Lake Lurleen Road Coker, Alabama

Two of my goals this year, are to get outside more to enjoy nature and to get back into photography. Living in such a digital world now, it’s easy to get distracted with technology and stay inside. I know for myself, I have been guilty of watching way too much Netflix this past year. This is something I think many of us can relate to. Moving to a new place has given me the opportunity to explore and turn my goals for this year into reality. Last weekend was perfect hiking weather, so me and a friend decided to check out some new trails in Alabama. Continue Reading ›

DRINKS A LA BAR CART

ADDING A BAR CART TO YOUR HOME
I have always had a passion for finding one of a kind treasures at antique and thrift stores. This is an activity that I still enjoy doing with my family and friends on the weekend. I think it’s perfect for making your home or whatever project you are working on unique. St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner, so I decided to share some of the vintage pieces I have recently added to my bar cart. Hopefully, this will give you some ideas to create your own unique statement piece to share at your next party! Continue Reading ›

ASPEN BAY TENT SALE | MS

Location: 400 Industrial Park Road Starkville, MS   |   February 4, 2016

What better way to end a long week of job searching then going to a candle tent sale by Aspen Bay the DPM Fragrance company store. I strongly support trying to shop local so once I found out DPM products are hand-poured in Starkville, Mississippi I knew I needed to check it out. So me and a girlfriend made the trip out. Sure enough we were glad we came.
